Railroad Spikes have traditionally been used in many magickal practices, especially the Hoodoo tradition, for home protection rituals. The density and weight of the spikes also make them a wonderful tool for grounding practices and they can even be used as a staff, wand, or athame when working with banishing or protection rituals. They also correspond to the planet Mars and the Fire element.

Typically, railroad spikes are anointed with a protection oil such as Fiery Wall of Protection and then are driven into the ground at each corner of the property. Doing this creates a protective barrier, connecting at each point where the railroad spike is placed. These can also be used as tools for protective and shielding spells, for your altar, or creating a protective amulet in the shape of a cross that can be placed at the entrance of your home.

This listing is for a set of 4 railroad spikes that will come with simple instructions to active them before use. This method of activation does include the fire element, so fire safety is highly encouraged. You can also opt to add a 2 DRAM vial of our shop's Fiery Wall of Protection Oil (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1494715787) for anointing. Lengths vary and are approx. between 5.75 - 6.75 inches.

Please handle these railroad spikes with care and caution as these spikes are naturally rusted and dusty. Wear gloves & safety eyewear when necessary, especially if you're hammering these spikes onto your property or working with our Fiery Wall of Protection oil.

These railroad spikes are ethically and responsibly sourced and were not removed from active running railroad tracks. Removing spikes from active and running railroad tracks is illegal and risks the lives of those running trains and anyone around these railroad tracks.
